DIY Paper Beads for a Bazillion Art Projects!

With this fun craft, kids can make their own bracelets and necklaces while learning about recycling or reusing. It’s also a great craft project for adults, especially those with an eye for detail. Create earrings, headbands, wind chimes or door beads, or whatever your heart desires, by recycling old magazines or colored craft paper.

Materials Needed

• Paper (any paper, magazine, craft, etc.)
• Glue (white school glue or Mod Podge)
• A thin dowel or stick
• Scissors

Instructions

Note: Follow the picture instruction sheet.

1. Cut long, thin triangles from your paper, depending on the size and shape you want.
2. Take the wider end of the triangle and roll it over the dowel, about 1 inch.
3. Place glue on the remaining piece of the paper.
4. Roll the piece all the way up to the last bit. Smear around the excess glue on the outside of the bead shape; this will help harden the bead when it dries.
5. Remove the bead from the dowel and leave to dry on a plate or wax paper, something that it won’t stick to.

When you have enough beads made for your project, use them just as you would any other bead to create interesting ecofriendly works of art!
